Life is not the pursuit of happiness. It is the expression of happiness.
Pain is going to be there. Its upto you if you want to suffer or not.
Responsibility comes from love while duties come due to fear.
The distinction between religion and spirituality should first become clear in our minds. I normally give this example of a banana and the banana skin. Religion is like the banana skin and spirituality is the banana. People have thrown away the banana and are holding onto the skin.Religion is the outer ritual and habits, a way of life, going back to the source, knowing deep within us that we are part of the divinity.
Our feelings have simply become words. Many times our feelings are not authentic, are not real. They are not coming from the source. When you look at the flower, you dont really feel that it is beautiful, but the mind says, "Oh, this is beautiful". The beauty becomes just a concept rather than a sensation happening within you, an explosion of wonder, an exploosion of beauty within you.
The Strength of Commitment
Q: Why is it easier for some of us to commit to our own welfare rather than of ours?
Sr Sri: Because you dont know that whatever you are commited to brings you strength. If you are committed to your organisation, the organisation supports you. If you are commited to your family, your family supports you. If you are commited to the society, you enjoy the support of the society. If you are commited to truth, truth brings you strength.
Often people are not aware of this and that is why they are hesitant o commit to a greater cause. There is always a fear that commitment would weaken people ar steat their freedom. Your commitment to a cause is bound to bring you comfort in a long run.
Commitment in life grows toward a higher cause. The higher the commitment, the greater is the good for all.
