The Turin Web Site confirms that there are to be 85 National Olympic Committees present at the 2006 Winter Olympics. There is no confirmation yet that all those present at the Salt Lake City games will be at Torino.

Winter Olympics 2006 Fact Sheet

The XXth Olympic Winter Games and the IXth Paralympic Winter Games will take place in and around Turin (Torino), Italy, from February 10-26, 2006, and March 10-19, 2006, respectively.  For additional information on the XXth Olympic Winter Games, including information on hotel accommodations, tickets, transportation, and advice for spectators, please see the website of the Organizing Committee of the Turin 2006 Olympic Games at http://www.torino2006.org.  For information on the IXth Paralympic Winter Games, please see its website at http://www.paralympic.org.  American citizens planning to travel to Italy to see or participate in the Games should visit U.S. Embassy Rome's Olympics website at http://olympics.usembassy.it/.

GENERAL FACTS AND FIGURES
• 84 medals will be given over a period of 17 days.
• 2,500 athletes and 2,500 officials from 85 National Olympic Committees will be housed in 3 Olympic Villages: Torino, Bardonecchia and Sestriere.
• Seven sports will be presented: Biathlon, Bobsleigh, Curling, Ice Hockey, Luge, Skating, Skiing
• Eight competition sites: Bardonecchia, Pinerolo, Pragelato, Cesana-Pariol, Cesana-San Sicario, Sauze d'Oulx, Sestriere, Torino, joined by 2 training centres at: Claviere and Torre Pellice
• 650 judges and referees will participate in the Games.
• 10,000 journalists and media operators are expected to cover the Games.


Summary: Turin is the Host City for the XX Olympic Winter Games which will be held from 10-26 February 2006. The Mole Antonelliana is Turin's original symbol, built between 1863 and 1889, 167.5 meters tall, and houses the National Museum of Cinema.
