Cisco to buy video surveillance company

 

 

MAR. 7 4:22 A.M. ET Cisco Systems Inc., the world's largest network equipment maker, said Tuesday it agreed to buy video surveillance software and hardware maker Sypixx Networks Inc. for $51 million in cash and options.

The acquisition will allow current Cisco customers to integrate existing analog video systems into digital networks that speak the language of the Internet.

The transaction is expected to close in the third quarter, after which time Sypixx will become part of a new business division in Cisco's Emerging Markets Technology Group.
